Consignee

Consignee is the natural or legal person, organization, or healthcare establishment to whom a medicinal product is shipped and who is designated to receive the product at the delivery destination. The consignee is responsible for accepting the delivery (whether by land, sea or air) and, where applicable, ensuring that the medicinal products are received, handled, and stored under conditions that maintain their quality and integrity.

In the context of Good Distribution Practice (GDP), the consignee should be an authorized customer where required by applicable legislation, and the delivery should be made only to the consignee or a person authorized to accept the shipment on the consignee’s behalf. Proper verification of the delivery and maintenance of the distribution chain are essential to preserve product quality and prevent diversion.
