Data Ownership formally assigns accountability to an individual or organizational unit (the Data Owner) for a specific set of data assets. In a regulated environment, the Data Owner is responsible for defining data quality standards, access rights, and security measures to uphold Data Integrity and compliance with regulatory mandates (like HIPAA/GDPR). This clarifies accountability across the R&D, Clinical, and Manufacturing domains. Proper Data Ownership is fundamental to a sound Data Governance framework, ensuring that all data generated, stored, and utilized (e.g., in LLMtraining) is managed according to established policies and the principles of ALCOA++.
